| Field Trips |
On any given morning at Lazy Acres' Pick-A-Pumpkin Patch, you’ll experience the sights and sounds of children laughing, learning and playing. Offering educational field trips to pre-school and elementary age students is one of the reasons we started our patch! We believe it’s important that the heritage of agriculture is experienced by all children as fewer families have a direct connection to the land. We’re able to help accomplish that goal in a fun and unique way. We invite you to bring your students to come get lost in our classroom in the corn!
Youth field trips are available for school groups, and we'll schedule your group for 90 minutes. We recommend you call to schedule a day earlier in the season which normally allows for better weather. Our youth field trip experience is tailored to pre-school through third grade. You can easily align our experience to meet K-2 academic standards.
Each field trip includes: - An agricultural demo to help students explore how seeds grow. We will model making a "growing cup" which helps students see how seeds turn into plants. - A tractor hayride around our Fun Farm courtyard, pumpkin patch and corny maze. - A trip through the short corn maze to our "classroom" in the corn followed by an exploration of our walking trails through the woods. - An immersion in literature geared towards emergent and beginning readers that starts in our Haybale Classroom, continues with reading spots around our courtyard, and ends with their own homemade book to complete at school! - Several "photo spots" for you to take a class photo.
Our experience can be aligned with Minnesota Life Science Standards to truly legitimize this unique and fun learning experience! The cost is $5.50 per student, and the minimum group size is 20 students or $110 per group. For a safe experience, we ask you arrange for a ratio of one adult for every six students. There is no charge for teachers, aides and chaperones part of that ratio! Additional adults and siblings are charged the student field trip rate. To make payment, please bring a check with you on the day of your visit. Checks should be made out to Lazy Acres.
Weather always varies, so please ask children to dress in layers. In case of inclement weather the morning of your visit, please call 218-751-1312 for field trip updates. In case of heavy rain some outside portions of your visit will be replaced with an inside talk. There are no weather related refunds, but we will work to reschedule if you wish. Rescheduling can be difficult as time slots are often filled. We appreciate your understanding.
Playground, picnic area, porta-potties, and hand-sanitizing facilities are provided. Playground and picnic area may be used before or after your scheduled field trip time and is limited to thirty minutes on a first come first serve basis. Please let us know if you plan to arrive early or stay late when you schedule your tour. You are welcome to bring your own food and drink.
See you at the patch! |
