Planting Seeds of Knowledge with The MAiZE
From the beginning, education has been one of our primary areas of focus and
is integrated into every aspect of the maze experience. We look forward to
continuing this tradition as we expand our operations across the country.

How the Seed was Planted
When The MAiZE introduced its "Planting Seeds of Knowledge" educational
campaign in 1997, more than 4,500 elementary students flocked to our
labyrinths to experience our unique brand of good farmin’ fun. To enhance the
field trip experience, participating students were provided with activity
sheets that tested their knowledge of Utah and agriculture. Educational signs
displaying interesting facts about the state also dotted the maize-lined
pathways of the Utah and two Idaho human puzzles.
Growing to New Heights
Turning back to our roots, the current educational campaign departs from a
focus on state history and centers more heavily on agriculture. Lesson plans,
activity sheets and other educational materials are provided to elementary
teachers throughout the country, encouraging them to implement an
agriculture-in-the-classroom curriculum. A visit to THE MAiZE is the
culminating event of the campaign and provides students and teachers with a
hands-on agricultural learning experience. Once on site, students are tested
on the knowledge they received in the classroom with an educational passport
that challenges their wits from all angles. The passport gives maze wanderers
the opportunity to answer educational questions at designated points within
the labyrinth. When answered correctly, the questions help to guide
participants along the elusive pathway to the maze’s exit. Educational
displays also enhance the learning experience at many of our 330+ maze sites.
